Since 1990, car rental customers just like you have paid more than $7.5 billion in car rental taxes imposed by states and municipalities to fund projects they have limited or no benefit from – from ballparks to convention centers.

A coalition representing the views of consumers and businesses, the car rental industry and tourists are supporting federal legislation to stop future state and local taxes on car rental customers.

The Congressional bill – End Discriminatory State Taxes on Automobile Renters Act (EDSTAR) – will prohibit state and local governments from imposing new special taxes on car rentals.
